Halfway Out of the Dark: Celebrating the Holidays at DSF

In one of the Dr. Who Christmas specials, the Doctor described Christmas as “halfway out of the dark,” which is a description I find to be very apt.

This week, slaves and the Divine (and guests) met at DSF to discuss how we all get through the holidays. For some it is a time of joy and celebration, but for many it is a time of exhaustion, difficulty, and anxiety.

Our discussion touched on a number of things. Feelings about the holidays, experiences both good and bad, and what strategies each of us use to manage the stress and challenges that holidays seem to bring.

Following our discussion was the lighting of the Yule Log, which will burn continuously throughout the season, bringing light and warmth to those who need it and comfort and joy to those who may just enjoy it as part of the festivities of the season.

We also engaged in a different ritual, confessions by slaves and our annual holiday spankings, as each of the slaves told the Divine what they desired most and then were spanked and flogged for the Divine’s amusement and entertainment.

Finally, as is DSF tradition, slaves were assigned new names for the holidays, each ending in d. Elf, making them Holiday Elves for the duration of the year.

A great time was had by all! (images kindly provided by Divine Sadist Lady Cythe)
